Your work will be proofed by a senior professional who has:

  • A very strong knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation;
  • A meticulous approach to detail;
  • A background in primary, secondary and tertiary education;
  • A background in the writing of post-graduate theses and journal articles, as well as journalism and marketing releases;
  • National and international awards for education;
  • Skill in finding the right tone and style without being pedantic.

The process:

  • Send your Word document as an email attachment to the address proofreading@galfridus.com
  • Receipt of your email will be acknowledged by reply email, along with an invoice;
  • Pay by PayPal;

  • The document will be returned with all amendments shown as tracked changes or with marginal comments;
  • If you have concerns with aspects of the proofing, two further proofings of the document will be available within the original price.

Costs and timing

  • Costs are usually based on word count (unless the material contains a significant number of specialised characters, mathematics for example, in which case a different cost structure will be quoted);
  • 300-1000 words, AU$40;
  • Over 1000 words, AU$40/1000 words (note, 1000-1499 = 1000 words; 1500-2000 = 2000 words, etc.)
  • Timing: In general, all work of less than 5,000 words will have a one-week turn-around; for larger works, the turn-around time will be advised with the quotation;
  • Work of up to 2000 words might be able to be completed within 24 hours if requested, in which case a special price will be quoted.

Who uses the service?

  • Business-owners who recognize that advertising and marketing and internally-generated reports can have a negative impact if they contain silly expression errors;
  • Schools whose expression in newsletters or student reports becomes the basis of widespread judgment about the quality of the school (separate rates of charge and special turn-around times apply to school reports).
  • Students who need specialised advice on the finer points of grammar and punctuation for essay drafts;
  • Students whose primary language is not English and who need assistance with Australian vernacular;
  • Authors who want a professional level of expression to send to prospective publishers;
